Dancing in Olsen Park

1-September-2025

On Saturday-27-August, the Isabel’s School of Dance held their final Dance class in Olsen Park. This week’s class was to learn Tap Dancing and was taught by Ms. Kaylee Semenec.
The class started with basic moves such as a Straight Tap by tapping the toe with a single beat. Then moving on to two beats steps including taping the toe to the floor and then dropping the heel to the floor “Ball, Heel.”  Then a “Shuffle” by brushing the toe of the shoe forward and then back.
Next came 4 beat movement which added a heel drop and moving faster. Followed by shifting from one foot to the other. Ms. Semenec would stand next to the Student as the two performed each move together as the learning continued.
Then came the time to set the dancing to music. The theme to the Adam’s Family was use which allowed variations including an eight-measure movement of stepping down with alternating feet using the tempo of the music. The dancers would also stop and clap to the music for emphasis.
Near the end of the class Ms. Semenec then played music at a faster pace. The was the “William Tell Overture”, to show how a quicker pace dance could look.
