Future Events

 Some events happening in and around Bogota in the upcoming weeks and months.

 First of all Bogota Blog NJ has learn that as of this time Bogota Day has been canceled. No further information is known.

-On Tuesday 20-May the Bogota Board of Education will hold their Monthly Public Meeting and Work Session. This will take place in the Bogota High School Cafeteria located on the second of the High School. Bogota High School is located at 2 Henry Luthin Place  Bogota, NJ. This meeting is Opened to the Public.




-Bogota Beautiful has their next board meeting on Wednesday 21- May starting at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers of Borough Hall. Located at 375 larch Ave. Bogota, NJ. The Public is welcome to attend.
 Also Bogota Beautiful has set the date for the first Blooming Bogota planting. This will take place on Saturday 24-May 2014. The have ordered 8 planters to be placed along  Main St. Blooming Bogota is working with the High School Environmental club, and the Steen Gardening club in order to find volunteers to help maintain the planters year round. A number of local business have agreed to allow planters to be place in front of the stores. Blooming Bogota is also working the the Borough to find locations on Main St. that the planters can be located. 
 The Planting Day event will start 10:00a  and go until 1:00p on Sat. 24 May. They will met at the corner of W.Main St & Larch Ave. For more information about volunteering, or to donate money or material to Blooming Bogota please contact Isabel Rodriguez at 917-656-1259.
 Bogota Beautiful will hold their next board meeting non Wednesday 21- May in the Bogota Council Chambers located on the second floor of Borough Hall at 375 Larch Ave. starting at 7:30p the public is invited to attend. -The Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept will hold it's Inspection starting at 9:00a. It will be followed by the BFD Memorial Service at 10:00a. These will be held in Front of Borough Hall  located at 375 Larch Ave. in Bogota, NJ
  The Bogota American  Legion Clifford Dunn Post #117 , and the Bogota VFW Ralph Hall Post # 5561 will be holding their Memorial Day Remembrance ceremony starting at 11:00a this will take place on the steps of  the Bogota Borough Hall.
  The Memorial Day Parade will start at 2:00p, this will begin at Palisade Ave. at Cypress Ave  and continue down Palisade to E. Main St. It will then turn South onto Main and cross over the Albert Graf bridge and make a right turn onto Elm Ave. It will move North on Elm until the route makes a left turn onto South St. The Parade will  travel one block then turn left onto Larch Ave and continue South until it passes Borough Hall.
 This year the American Legion will play host to at least 20 Marine who are on active duty. In 2012 Bogota host a number of different Military personnel  who were taking part in the Fleet Week events in New York. That year Marines from 1st Battalion 9th Marines, Sailors from the USS Roosevelt, and Cadets from the Spanish Training Vessel Juan Sebastian De Elcano were welcomed to Bogota. In 2013 Fleet Week was cancelled, but reinstated for this year with Bogota again chosen to be one of the host communities for members of the US Armed Services.
  The Firefighter Service, the Remembrance ceremony and the parade are all opened to the public.

 - On  Monday 2- June Bogota High School will hold it's annual Sports Award Dinner. This is to give the Student Athletes of Bogota High School the recognition for their accomplishments during the past school year. The dinner will take place in the High School Gymnasium starting at 6:00p. Tickets are $5.00 per person, with Student Athletes free of charge. Tickets must be purchased in advance, there will not be any ticket available at the door. To order tickets please contact Karen Rodgers at bogotabucs@optonline.net 
 Student wishing to purchase ticket please contact Coach Brad DiRupo during school hours.
 Families, and anyone else attending are asked to bring food items for a Potluck Dinner, for more information on that please also contact Ms. Rodgers.



- On  Saturday 8-June the ARC of Bergen & Passaic Counties will hold their Step-up for The ARC fund- raising Walk-A-Thon in Olsen Park. The walk will begin at 10:30a with registration opening at 9:30a.  This will be the 17th annual Step-Up in Olsen Park. Schedule to appear will be Dave Margalotti from WVNJ radio. There will be crafts , games & other activities. A breakfast and Lunch will be provided free by the 2nd,3rd,&4th District Masons. - In October Steen School PTO will be hold their second annual Fall Festival in Olsen Park. They are now looking for Food & Craft vendors to participate. The Festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday 18- October. ( with the rain date being Sunday 19- Oct.). It will begin at Noon, and run until 6:00p. Vendors will be able to start to set-up at 10:00a. Prices for a space will be $75 if reserved before Weds. 1-Oct. after that date prices for a space will be $100.
