Along with a top 40%  ranking in the State including students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This also allows Steen School to be listed at a Title I school, which is defined as the school has ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.
The Lillian M. Steen School is the first school in Bogota that has achieved this recommendation in the 38 years since the Blue Ribbon program was started.
In a statement Bogota Superintendent of Schools  Mr Damian Kennedy  Congratulated "Dr. Dayle Collins and the entire Lillian M. Steen school community. The National Blue Ribbon designation is one of the highest honors in education and something that the entire Bogota community should be very proud of.
Steen Principal Dr. Dayle Collins said:
It is an honor for Steen to be recognized as A National Blue Ribbon School. It is a reflection of the passion, dedication and hard work that our teachers put into our wonderful students each day.  Without the entire community of Bogota, which has always valued its schools this would not be possible. We are thrilled and elated with this award.
