Tree Lighting

9-December-2017
On Friday-8-December the Bogtoa Recreation Commission Along with Mayor Chris Kelemen and the Bogota Borough Council host  the annual lighting of the tree in front of Borough Hall. In response to the increasing popularity of the event again there was a upgraded format. The viewing platform was set-up across from  Borough Hall Park allowing for more open space for Families and friends to mingle together and exchange Holiday wishes. The Bogota Girls Scout could then assemble in front of the War Memorial to sing the joyous songs of the season. The singers had more room perform and the audience had a better chance to view them, and join in singing. Bogota Mayor Chris Kelemen greeted those who had come to celebrate as a Community. And Recreation Director Jim Moore thanked all the Women and Men who worked to make this evening possible. Tables were set-up offering cookies and hot chocolate on Larch Ave so those waiting for the guest to arrive could enjoy a small snack. A DJ replaced the Live music keeping the crowd entertained until the Bogota Fire Dept escorted Santa down the street to meet the Children waiting for him. Santa walked through the wave of smiling face. He made his way to the platform to offer  Holiday's Greeting, and Merry Christmas. Then Santa led the countdown and the tree was lit for this years Festivities.
