On Monday-16-August the Bogota Football Bucs started their pre-season training for 2021. The session began with warm-up and stretching exercises. This was followed by Blocking and Tackling drills. After that there were other drills to learn and improve the players skill set. This season will see the return a large of players from last year Union Division Championship team. Bogota Head Coach Brain Appleton is looking for this years Seniors to continue the success the team achieved last season. Coach Appleton is also looking for all the returning players to assist the newer ones with their adjustment to High School football.
Between drills Coach Appleton oversaw his team run a number of plays from set formations. These allowed the Coaching staff to correct, or advise, the players on skills they need to improve their game. The Coaching staff would rotate players to various positions to allow the players to learn to be comfortable playing in different position through-out the season. This would also give the Coaches a change to try different combinations for specific situations. Multiply fumbles, off-sides and other fouls were punished by laps, or being replaced in front of teammates. So that these August mistake can be corrected before the regular season in September.
Coach Appleton explain that there were a number of players were not yet in camp due to various reasons. Mainly Family vacations, or summer jobs, he expects more players to attend by the time school start. Coach Appleton added that during the first week of school more Students will be able to sign-up and join the team.
Bogota will play three scrimmages one on Monday-23-August against Park Ridge at Whippany Park with a scheduled start of 10:00a. Another on Friday-27 against Secaucus and St. Mary's at Feigel Field Palisades Park starting at 6:00p. The final pre-season will be at New Milford on Wednesday-1-September at 6:00p
The 2021 Regular season will start on Saturday-11-September against Harrison. This will be the Home Opener at Feigel Field. This also be the annual night game with the kick-off scheduled to be at 7:00p
