On Friday-24-October the #4 Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team hosted the Emerson Lady Cavaliers in the opening round of the 2023 New Jersey State Interscholastic Association North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 Tournament at Speary Gym. The first set was opened with Emerson serving first. Bogota would get the first two points of the set. The Lady Bucs then opened a 7-point lead. Bogota would control most of the first set and opened a double-digit advantage. Emerson cut into the home teams lead and closed the margin to 23-16. Bogota then held on to win the set 25-16.
In the second set Bogota served and scored first. The Lady Cavaliers then tied the set and took the lead 4-2. At the end of the first set and early in this set the Emerson front court was able to block Emma Fowler a number of times. The Lady Bucs moved to Isabella Cruz to outside hitter more often and took back the lead. While Bogota continued their scoring the Lady Cavaliers would not let the set get out of control. The Lady Bucs would not have a lead bigger than 7 points they would still win the set by a score of 25-17 and a 2-0 match victory. They now have a record of 16-6.
Isabella Cruz had a team high with 14 Kills. Kaelee Zuniga scored 24 Assist and Jenelly Jimenez recording 10 Digs.
Bogota next plays #5 Saddle Brook the Quarterfinal Round of the 2023 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association
North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 Tournament This will take place on Wednesday-1 November in Speary Gym with the first serve scheduled for 4:30p.
In the second set Bogota served and scored first. The Lady Cavaliers then tied the set and took the lead 4-2.
