On Tuesday-22-September, the Bogota Board of Education held their meeting for the month. In his report Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy talk about the first weeks of the new school year. He mentioned that the no phone during school hours has been followed by the Students. Also, the shuttle bus for the elementary school Students is working well.
Mr. Kennedy then addressed the suspension of the 2026 Bogota Football Bucs season. He started in saying this is not the first time a season ended early while he has been in the District. He said the team started with about 25 players and dropped to 17 after the last game. Then Mr. Kennedy continued talking about the possibility of joining an agreement to form a co-operation with another school. He and Athletic Director Mr. Brian Appleton will research a proposal that will benefit both schools. Because Bogota is a small district, they may not be the Home team.
Mr. Kennedy is also looking to allow the Marching Buccaneer Band to play at Bogota Soccer Bucs games and the field for their practices.
Then the Trustees voted on the Consent Agenda. All resolutions were passed by unanimous vote. Items of note were: The appointment of Mr. Roel Menendez as a custodial/maintenance.
The next Board of Education meeting is Tuesday-20-October. This will be held in the High School Cafeteria at 7:00p. This is open to the Public, and available online.
