On Sunday-20-September, NJ. com and the Bogota Blog NJ posted stories about the cancelation of the rest of the 2026 season for the Bogota Football Bucs.
On Monday-21-September, Athletic Director Mr. Brian Appleton offered this statement to Bogota Blog NJ.
"This was an extremely difficult decision, but with our roster numbers reaching a point where we could no longer safely field a team, we felt it was the necessary decision. Ultimately, the safety and well-being of our student athletes will always be our top priority."
Since that time a number of non-official information was said.
A "Press Release" posted that was not created by the Bogota School District.

In the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday-22-September, Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy asked camera crews to not engage with the Students. He said camera crews are not allowed to interview, or film Students on District property. This was not a "Press Conference"
On Monday-28-September Superintendent Kennedy sent this official statement to Bogota Blog NJ.
"Unfortunately, we made the difficult decision to end the varsity football season after our last game. We started the season with 25 players, but injuries and players choosing not to continue caused our numbers to decline. We will run a modified JV schedule for the remainder of the season.
Our focus now is on recognizing our football players and senior athletes, with plans for our band and cheerleaders to participate in an upcoming soccer game.
Moving forward, we will explore all of our options, including a potential co-op. There are many factors to consider, and we will gather the necessary information and bring the options to the Board as we determine the best path forward for our students."
