Weather Alert

Reminder:

  Bogota Blog NJ along with Bogota Beautiful is starting a drive to collect gift cards in order to help the Citizens of Edgewater, NJ. With the assistance of Bogota Mayor Chris Keleman there will be a collection box located in Borough Hall in the secretary's office.  The secretary's office will be open during normal business hours which  are from Monday to Thursday from 8:00a to 5:00p. Bogota Borough Hall is located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A BLIZZARD
WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY
EVENING.
* LOCATIONS...THE GREATER NEW YORK CITY METROPOLITAN AREA.
* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WITH BLIZZARD
  CONDITIONS LIKELY.
* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 1 TO 2 FEET...WITH LOCALLY
  HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE
* WINDS...NORTH 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.
* VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.
* TEMPERATURES...IN THE LOWER 20S.
* TIMING...HEAVIEST SNOW AND STRONGEST WINDS WILL OCCUR
  OVERNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY.
* IMPACTS...EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TRAVEL DUE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL AND
  STRONG WINDS...WITH WHITEOUT CONDITIONS LIKELY. SECONDARY AND
  TERTIARY ROADS MAY BECOME IMPASSABLE. STRONG WINDS MAY DOWN
  POWER LINES AND TREE LIMBS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
BLIZZARD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FALLING AND/OR
BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND EXTREMELY POOR VISIBILITIES.
THIS CAN LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AND MAKE TRAVEL VERY
DANGEROUS.
THE BOGOTA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WILL CONTINUE TO CLOSELY MONITOR THIS STORM AND ISSUE ADDITIONAL ADVISORIES AS CONDITIONS WARRANT. 

DEPARTMENTS AND RESIDENTS SHOULD BEGIN PREPARATIONS FOR A HIGH IMPACT SNOWSTORM. 

Advisory: Winter Storm Watch from Mon. afternoon - Tues. evening. Around 10-14" of snow, with near-blizzard conditions likely.

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW AND NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS. 
* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 10 TO 14 INCHES. 
* WINDS...NORTH 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.
* VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES. 
* IMPACTS...BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WITH NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED DUE TO STRONG WINDS.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
