Accident

20-Jan-2015

A news dispatch for Bogota Office of Emergency Mangament coordinator Tito Jackson about a Truck accident on River Rd  in Bogota, NJ

At approx 1645 hrs this afternoon a truck struck a pole in the area of 60 River Rd. The pole snapped in several locations and came to rest on top of the truck.  The truck is still entangled in the live power lines.  Bogota PD, FD, EMS, Rescue, OEM AND Holy Name BLS all responded and are still currently on the scene.  There were no injuries to the driver of the truck. There are NO power outages in the area at this time, PSE&G is currently on the scene and have estimated another 2 hours before the truck can be removed from the pole.  River Rd will be shut down for the remainder of the evening as they work to restore and replace the pole and wires.

PSE&G is on the scene and the truck has just been removed from the pole.  Bogota PD & Rescue continue to operate at the scene. FD, EMS have picked up from the scene.  At this time approx 12 apartments and 2 residences on River Rd are without power.  A door to door canvas has been conducted and all residents advised that power may remain out for the next 6 hours.

Should it become necessary to provide shelter for these families, we will house them at the Glenpointe Marriott Hotel.  At this time no requests for shelter have been received.

PSE&G estimates power should be restored by 2 am.  River Rd will continue to be closed to traffic and should be reopened prior to the morning rush hour.
