Bogota Board of Education

  On Tuesday-8-February the Bogota Board of Education held their first meeting for the Month of February. During his Superintendent report Mr. Damian Kennedy talked about a number of items. The first to announce the change in how information is posted on the District website.  It is a more streamlined presentation of the meetings agenda.  Starting with this current meeting  users can click on the agents and scroll down to find any item they could be interested in. Superintendent Kennedy next announced the district wide food drive of assist and donate to the St. Joseph's Food Pantry. This is planned to have each school have their own food drives, or other events to have donation go to the Food Pantry. A new event was  then announced of a presentation about learning how drug paraphernalia can be hidden in everyday objects. Along with learning how some key words and phrases can be used to alert Parents of possible drug and vaping use. This will be held in the Bogota High School Gym on Wednesday-23-February starting at 7:00p  This is open to the public, and for more information please contact Ms Kathi Viola at: kviola@cafsnj.org

   The final item Superintendent Kennedy discussed was the lifting of the mask mandate for school. He welcomed the time until Monday- 7-March so the District can work with with the New Jersey Department of Education along with Local and County health officials on what will be required in order to allow all Students and Staff to be safe in the Buildings.  This includes guildlines on who may need to quarantine, and when. What is the procedure for unvaccinated individuals. This will be the same protocol the District has used since the health crisis began in 2020.
   After the Audit report, which the District is in fiscally positive condition.  The Board of Trustees considered the items on the Consent Agenda. All resolution were moved for a vote in the next Board of Education Meeting. 
  The next Board of Education meeting will be on Tuesday-15-February and is scheduled to start at 7:00p. It will be a hybrid meeting with in-person attendance and available online. The in person meeting will be held in the High Cafeteria located at 2 Henry Luthin Pl. Bogota, NJ All in person attendee will be required to wear mask at all time while in the building. The meeting is open to the Public.
