On Thursday-17-July the Bogota Borough Council held their Work Session meeting for the month.
At the start of the meeting Bogota Mayor Ms. Daniele Fede asked all in attendance to remain standing. This was to remember Mr. Thomas Napolitano who passed away on 7-July. Mr. Napolitano served on the Bogota Borough Council for six years along with a seat on the Planning Board. Then he was appointed to the Planning Board for another 5 years. It is asked that donations to the American Cancer Society be made in his honor.
After Citizens Remarks the council voted to introduce an ordinance that will amend the garbage disposal code. This will revise the definition of the word garbage. It will also list the types of receptacles that can be used. These include a watertight metal or plastic receptacle with a closely fitted cover, or heavy-duty black plastic or black polyethylene bags, provided they are watertight and properly tied.
This will be open to public comment at the next council meeting on Thursday-21-August.
The Council then adopted five ordinances after public comment. These were approved by unanimous vote. Ordinances were:
- To approve a Bond Ordinance for Funding by the New Jersey Department of Transportation to improvement of Hill St. and Larch Ave.
- To establish salary ranges for certain Non-Union and Supervisory personal.
- To limit the amount that the Borough’s salary ordinance can be adjusted, and the amount that salaries can be increased in a collective negotiations labor contract, to the rate of inflation in any year
-To approve a Bond Ordinance for improvements and to acquire new additional or replacement equipment and machinery, new communication and signal systems equipment and new information technology equipment for the Borough.
-To license and adjust the application requirements for erecting billboards and banners in the Borough.
Next the Council voted on the Consent Agenda. All resolutions were passed by unanimous vote. Items of note were:
-To approve the purchase of equipment for the new Bogota Community Center.
-To approve salary adjustments for Part-Time Fire Inspectors. Along with Stipends for the Police Matron Services and Fire Investigation Photographer.
Also approved was the Payment of Claims, and a block party on Beechwood Ave.
