Latest updated progress on the new Bogota Sports Complex. Both Softball and Baseball fields have their natural grass grown in enough for regular mowing and watering to take place. Minor details still need to be address. The walking paths with their finished layer are in place. This includes the section behind the third base line of the baseball diamond, the curb cut at the crosswalk for W. Main St. to Olsen Park, and the return loop to the Bogota Swim Club parking lot. Landscaping has been added with a small grassy hill, near the baseball field, has been created with more trees and new grass seeded in.
The running track around the football field, has had the painting of marking completed. Six lanes have been created and are numbered with details added. The finish line for all races is on the north end of the straightaway closest to the grandstand. The starting line for the 100-meter dash is on the south end of the straight away. Other start markings are for longer races and relay races. The curved “Waterfall” starting lines will be use for the races from 1,000m to the 10,000m races. Coloured triangle mark are use for relay race. The most noticeable markings are at all four turns. This will designate the exchange area for the relay race. They are marked by the Bogota Light Purple of each lane and are staggered.
Also marked are the areas for Long Jump & Pole-vaulting events and are also Bogota Light Purple. Locations for the hurdles have also been marked. The Field event will take place between the Softball and Baseball Field.
The structures for equipment storage and refreshment have been completed. The interior work still needing to be done. The bridge from the refreshment deck and the grandstands has been connected with the walkway finished, but the railings still need to be installed.
Paving continues on the welcome plaza from Feller Pl. with space for trees created. Footing for the welcome arch have been installed with the accessible ramp being paved. The top-level pavement for the new parking spaces for cars and buses will be one of the final elements worked on. Including the electric charging station for the district buses and safety barriers where the public walkways and driveway meet.
A new date for the Grand Opening will be announced when confirmed.
