Final touches have been worked on in preparation for the Grand Opening of the new Bogota Sports Complex. Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy, and other officials observed the progress.
What they saw was both ball fields with the grass fully grown in, the walking paths with their finished layer in place. Landscaping has been added with a small grassy hill, near the baseball field. This has been created to plant more trees and to have additional grass lawns. Due to the last heavy rain fall some pooling was reported. These issues will be address after the opening.
Feller Pl. and new parking spaces, along with the bus parking area have been given their finished asphalt layer. On the south end of the parking spaces a curb cut has been added to allow water to drain into a dry well to reduce pooling. Weather damage concreate in the welcome plaza has been replace. Landscaping has been added with regular maintenance taking place. A drinking fountain has been installed which includes a regular fountain, a bottle filling station, and a water dish for pets to use.
Railings have been installed to the elevated path to the refreshment stand. New steps have been added to the front, and back doors of the field house. And a handy-capped accessible ramp, and stairs, to the Restrooms.
Superintendent Kennedy has announced the Grand Opening event for the Sports Complex will be on Monday-28-July, starting at 6:00p. This will be held at 198 W. Park Pl. and Feller Pl. The Public is welcome to attend. Also, the walking path around the Softball and Baseball field are now open to be used by the Public
