Board of Education

On Tuesday-6-February the Bogota Board of Education held it's first  public meeting for February.  At the start of the meeting Superintendent Dr Vincent Varcadipane had a few announcements.  One that may be of the most interest is the Board of Education  has been contacted by the Borough of Bogota to join a comprehensive " lock-down" system that borough looking to add to  its other properties.  This would allow all outside doors of any BoE schools to be locked with a single button. This would also active schools cameras and send live images to the Bogota Police Dept. Another feature will be the sending of notice to the Parents of Students of the occurrence of a situation. This will  discussed at future meeting.  Dr Varcadipane also provided update on the lentil replacement and the new air conditioning system at Bixby school. He also explained there is a new APP available  to access information about the Public School District. This can be acquired on an app store by typing  bb comm then typing in bogota, then bbdistrict . This is a free app.
The Board then considered the agenda items. This is a first vote on whether these item should be moved forward to a final vote at the next Board of Education meeting. All these items passed, but will not be put in place until they are voted on again the next meeting. Some of the notable item was the retirment of the Physical Education Teacher at Steen School. The resignation of the Bogota Football Bucs Head Coach. And the termination of two custodians at Steen School.
