Bogota Basketball

   On Thursday-8-February the Varsity Basketball teams from Bogota played those from Emerson. The Lady Bucs traveled to Emerson and suffered a 29-76 lost to the Lady Cavaliers. Qwyneth Trujillo and Leila Ksiyer each a team high with 9 Points. Ms.Trujillo and Amanda Schlosser both scored 2 Three Point Baskets for Bogota, and Ms Ksiyer added a fifth. Bogota's record is now 2-13. They next play on Tuesday-14-February against Palisades Park.  This will be held on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym and is scheduled to start at 5:30p This will be the Senior Game for 2018.




   The Men's Basketball Bucs hosted the Cavaliers on the Jay Mahoney Court. Bogota started the game with  long range scoring taking a 20-7 lead in the first quarter. Over half of Bogota's Points came from beyond the Arc. Emerson adjusted their defense to add more pressure on the Bucs ball handles. Bogota would still be able to take a 36-24 lead into the locker room. After the restart the Cavaliers would continue their pressure and finally closed the gap to single digits and trail the host 44-50. As the game move forward  the intensity and physical play heated up. Bogota would lose three of their five starters to foul trouble while Emerson would  also have a starter foul out. As the Bucs needed to call on their bench Dequan Johnson would connect of two straight three point shots to a open a small space in the lead.The Cavaliers's David Johanson and Game High scorer John Dime would force their team to withing on basket of a tie with well under 30 seconds left in the quarter.  When Argenis Soriano's  made his two free throws and a last ditch Cavaliers long shot, that fell wide of the target, time then expired on a 70-66 Bogota win. Cavaliers' John Dime would finish the game with 24 Points. Argenis Soriano would have 20 Points for Bogota including a game high 5 Three Point baskets.  Tim Uzor would join David Johanson with 2 and Deiker Padrino would also add a three point baskets.
  Bogota's record is now 15-3. They next play on Tuesday-14-February at Palisades Park with a tip-off scheduled for 7:00p.
