Football Clinic

6-August-2019
On Monday-5-August the Bogota Football Bucs Varsity Football team held a football clinic for the Junior Bucs Football program. This was held at Feigel Field after a varsity walk-through. Bogota Head Coach Brain Appleton welcomed the young players to "..the best place in the world.. "   And continued in saying there is no other place like Feigel Field. he talked about the feel, of the grass,  the location in Bogota, and the history of the games played there. He said this is where players start to make their own memories to pass on to those who will follow them.
He started with attitude, once a player walks out of the locker room the pace, mind, and heart need to be at the highest level. Running, focus, hard work, learning, listening, and respect are needed to succeed at football. And all of those same thing must be part of a person everyday life as well.
Then the players started their drills. First they warmed-up and stretched  properly, this is to get their bodies in good shape and avoid injuries. Then they went a number of drills. First was holding and carrying the football.  They ran over and around obstacles along with seeing how to avoid the defenders.  Then came receiving drills. Learning how to run set plays and look for the incoming football.
The next skill set taught was defense. The players were shown how to get ready for the start of a play. Then came learning how to block, or move the opponent out of the way. Finally there was the chance to tackle  and recover the football with a chance to score.
When time was up then young players were rewarded with a cold treat for their time and effort shown on Feigel Field.
Registration is now open for both the  Junior Football Program  and the Junior Cheerleaders: All divisions are opened to Girls  and Boys who live and attend any of the schools in Bogota.
