Hazardous Weather Alert

 On Friday-10-July the National Weather Service has issued the following Hazardous Weather Alert for  all parts on Northern  New Jersey and New York.

  • Today
    Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 10am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain.  High near 79. East wind 7 to 10 mph.  Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

  • Tonight
    Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 3am, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain.  Low around 73. Windy, with an east wind 29 to 39 mph becoming south 8 to 13 mph. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.  Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

    Saturday: A chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 10am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain.  Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 99. South wind 7 to 11 mph.  Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Saturday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 8pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain.  Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph.  Chance of precipitation is 60%.

-FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE THROUGH THIS EVENING
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southern Connecticut,
northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
-FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING The Flash Flood Watch continues for -Through this evening -Heavy rain showers and embedded thunderstorms are forecast through this evening. A total of 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is expected, with locally higher amounts possible. Torrential rainfall within a short period of time will be possible and this could lead to flooding of low lying, urban and poor drainage areas. Some smaller streams and rivers could exceed banks. -PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
