Heat Advisory

 On Sunday-26-July the National Weather Service has issued the following severe weather  alerts and heat advisory for parts on New Jersey and New York. This will continue through-until Tuesday. and into early next week.

Hazardous Weather Outlook


-HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT TUESDAY.

-WHAT...Heat index values up to 100.

- WHERE...In New Jersey, Hudson, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex
  and Eastern Union Counties. In New York, Southwestern Suffolk,
  Southern Nassau, Northern Nassau and Northwestern Suffolk
  Counties.

-WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Tuesday.

- IMPACTS...High temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

  A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and
humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees
for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any
length of time.
  Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
  Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health
conditions are at an increased risk. Homes without air
conditioning can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures.
  Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency and Call 9 1 1 for assistance.
