On Tuesday-30-September the Bogota Lady Volleyball Bucs traveled to Rutherford to play the Lady Bulldogs.
Bogota would serve first, with Rutherford scoring the opening point. The Lady Bucs tied the set and took a short 2 to 1 lead. Rutherford’s Cate Finan then served the home team to a 5 to 1 advantage. The Lady Bulldogs maintain at least a 5-or 6-point lead for the rest of the set and win 25-14.
In the second set Rutherford would serve first and score first. The Lady Bucs again tied the score. Soon Bogota opened a lead with scoring 7 of the first 10 points. The Lady Bucs added to the margin averaging 2 points for each point made by Rutherford. Midway through the second set Bogota would a have a double-digit lead, on their way to a 25-16 second set win. This would tie the match at 1 set apiece.
In the final set the Lady Bulldogs again serve first. Bogota recorded the first point of the set. After a 1 to 1 tie the Lady Bucs took the lead, which they never surrendered. Service runs by Melannie Solis and Emma Fowler pushed Bogota to a 25-14 third set win with a 2 to 1 match victory.
Emma Fowler scored a match high of 14 Kills.
Rutherford’s Mackenzie Vellis recorded 13 Kills and
a match and season high with 17 Digs. Lucy Villamar had
a team high of 10 Digs for Bogota. Lady Bucs’ Nikole Alvarez recorded a match
and career high of 32 Assists. Cate Finan had 20 Assist for her team.
Emma Fowler had 10 Service points. Lucy Villamar, Yiesak Cabrera, and Melannie Solis all finished with 2 Aces. The Lady Bulldogs Mackenzie Vellis also had 2 Aces. Bogota’s Talia Luciano and Ariana Carmona, along with Rutherford’s Juliette Sing, Cate Metzger, and Shaylyn Rodriguez all had 2 Blocks apiece.
The
Lady Bucs record is now 12-1. They next
play on Friday-3-October in Secaucus with a first serve at 4:30p.
