Tuesday-27-October
On Friday 24-October, The Bogota Soccer Bucs played their Senior Game against Passaic Charter School. Before the game the three Bogota Seniors, Victor Salguero, Dustin Cabezas, and Jeremy Alarcon were honored before the game. Bogota would win the game by a score of 3 to 0. Xavier Chasi scored twice and had one assist. Daniel Giraldo had one goal with 1 Assist. Joshua Quevedo made 15 saves for the Shut-out win.
Following the game those in attendance moved across the street to Vin Scully field in Olsen Park, to celebrate the Homecoming with a 100th Anniversary’s bonfire. The wood for the fire was set up by the members of the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department on the dirt of the infield. The Firefighter wet down the outfield grass to protect it from loose embers.
The Bogota Marching Bucs Band and the Twirlers were in attendance to provide music for the festivities. Before the Homecoming pyre was ignited, High School Athletic Director Mr. Brian Appleton gave a speech thanking everyone for showing up and explaining the 100th Anniversary’s events, then Football Bucs Head Coach Mr. James Case also spoke to the Students. As the Fire Department lit the wood with safe pikes, the Band played some of their Evolution of Hip-Hop songs, including a mashup of Poker Face and Bad Romance, Hey Ya! and Fireball. With the fire burning in the background the Twirlers performed their set to Rhianna’s SOS.
