Bogota year in review part 3



 5- September -2015
The Parents for Bogota Football held their Fundraising Dinner and Raffle. 




9-September-2015

     The Bogota  VFW Post 5561 hosted a events for Women's Veterans from the US Armed Services. This program " Vets Chat & Chew" 




15- September-2015
     The Bogota Board of Education hired
 of a new Physical Education Teacher:


22-September-2015
     The Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept Engine Co.#3 host the Zerbini Family Circus. They set up their tent, for the second year in a row in the Little League field in Olsen Park




 23-September-2015
The St. Joseph's  Church held their annual Carnival and Food Festival.




 23-September-2015
       Shoplifting charges against former Mayor Tito Jackson were dismissed.



 26-September-2015

   The Bogota Band Parents Association  sponsored their annual Town -Wide Garage Sale as a fundraiser event for the marching Buccaneer Band . 

4-October-2015

   St. Joseph's Church held an Opening Mass to start their Centennial year celebration.  This was lead by guest Presider, Archbishop Anthony Heblda from the Archdiocese of Newark.





6-October-2015

   Members of the various dept of the Emergency Service in Bogota displayed their equipment and  skill in the Valley bank parking lot.




10-October-2015

    The St. Joseph's School was able to hold their Spirit Sprint. This was originally schedule for 3- October but was postponed due to the weather


10-October- 2015
    The Bogota VFW post #5561  held an Oldies concert in their Main Hall. 







13-October-2015
  The Bogota Public Library re-opened after a week and a-half of refurbishing.




  19-October-2015

   The reorganize Bogota Boy Scouts  Troop # 66 will hold their first meeting. This will be the kick-off to the new Bogota Troop 66. 


20-October-2015

 The Board had two candidates to fill the vacant seat from when Gloria Clark resigned. Amanda Montgomery was voted to fill the vacant seat for one year.Ms Clark was one of two candidates who applied for the seat. 

 21- October-2015

 The Bogota High School PTO, Steen School PTO, and Bixby School PTA hosted a Candidate Debate for the six candidates seeking to be elected to the Bogota Board of Education. 




25-October-2015

    The Bogota Volunteer Fire Department  Hose Co. #2 held their annual Pancake breakfast. Process from this event are use for the General operating fund for the Central Ave. Fire House.

27-October-2015
     Members of the Bogota Police Dept. hosted an evening of casual conversation  for the residents of Bogota. 




30-October-2015
    Nikki Spiegel retired from her position at the Bogota Public Library after 15 years 

4-November-2015

    The results of the Elections on 3- November. All Republican Candidates swept into office with large victories. For Mayor Incumbent Chris Keleman  won a full three year term with a more than 360 margin over Councilwoman  Lisa Kohles.  For Council Incumbent Councilwoman Daniele Fede was the top vote getter of the four Candidates for the full three year Council term First time Francisco Miranda won the second seat available. In the race to fill the one year Council seat, vacated when Mr. Keleman won the Mayor's office in 2014  Michael Connors defeated Ingrid Brito by over 300 votes.
   For the three seat available for the Bogota Board of Education Eileen Lewis  was the top vote getter. She was followed by Incumbent Kathryn Van Buren, and Jo-Ellen Granquist.




5-November-2015
   Daniel Maye was name as the new  Chief of Bogota Police Department.




7- November-2015 


  Councilwoman Lisa Kohles resigned her seat on Borough Council 




 8-November-2015
 The Men's race Bogota's James Draney took  first place overall in the meet.  The Bucs took a third in the field of 16 schools.  Daniel Daurio took 5th place while Andy Jaipersaud finished 13th .
  Their next meet will be on Saturday-14 November for the State Group Championship. This will be run in Holmdel , NJ the Women's race is Scheduled to start at 2:00p with the Men's race at 3:00p




10-November-2015 

   The Bogota Public Library hosted a Community Potluck Dinner. This was in cooperation with Bogota Beautiful




11-November-2015

The Bogota VFW  Ralph Hall Post #5561 held their Veteran's Day ceremony.  At this event the VFW took the time to remember The Veterans who have serviced in the Armed Forces to serve and protect the United States of America in overseas conflicts. 




12-November-2015 
  The Borough of Bogota dedicated the street in front of the Police Station to the former Bogota Police Chief Henry J. Smith. 





15-November-2015

  In Volleyball the #1 Bogota Lady Bucs regained the Group 1 State Championship with a 2-0 ( 25-23: 25-12) win over #3 Leonia at William Paterson University.  




19-November-2015

   Recreation Director  Jim Moore was involved in a Traffic accident, and charged with driving under the influence.

20- November-2015

    Members of the Bogota High School 7th & 8th grade YAC took time off from starting their weekend to help bring food they had collected to the St. Joseph's Food Bank. 





27-November- 2015


  Bogota High School Principal Linda Gattuso announced her retirement effective 1-January -2016   

4-December-2015


   At the Bogota Borough Council meeting on Thursday  3-December Kathy Ferris  was sworn in to be the next Councilwoman for Bogota.



4-December-2015

     The Bogota High School Drama Dept. hosted the International Association of Mystery Solvers 2015 conference. This year's topic was "Sherlock Holmes in The Royal Scandal".  



5-December-2015

   On Saturday 5-December the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department elected their Chiefs for 2016. 






8-December-2015
 The Bogota Board of Education  approved Danian Kennedy as the new Principal for Bogota High School. Principal Kennedy will begin his tenure starting on 1-January-2016. 




10-December-2015


    On Thursday the Bogota Police Emergency Services Youth Academy  premiered it's film of Class 05 from the Summer of 2015.

11-December-2015

   The Borough of Bogota held their annual lighting of the tree in front of Borough Hall. 





20-December-2015
   Scenes from the Bogota High School Winter Concert. Featuring performances by the Concert Choir, The Jazz Band, The La-Di-Da's, and the Concert Band.

22-December-2015

   Volunteers from Bogota Beautiful, aided by members of the Schiller Institute Bogota Community Chorus,  went around parts of Bogota singing Christmas Carols



24-December-2015
  Ft. Lee Rd west of River Rd fully reopened after construction work.
