Sunday- 21-August
Ridgefield Park, NJ

This will be the first day of Batstock 2016. This will be held at the Ridgefield Park High School be an evening outdoors Bat walk starting at 7:00p. Joe D'Angeli will lead a walk around the area to observe the local bat population on their evening hunt for food. Mr. D'Angeli is the head of The Wildlife Conservation and Education Center. He is also the organizers of Batstock "Three days of Peace Love & Bats."   Batstock is an event started r by Mr. D'Angeli to raise awareness of a condition call "White Nose Syndrome  that is affecting bats in North America. This is a disease that affects bat as they are trying to hibernate for the winter. The fungus that affects the bats causes them to awake from their hibernation, and start to fly around in mid winter. This will cause a bat to freeze from the cold, or starve to death from the lack of food available. First notice in 2006 WNS has affect millions of bat reducing their population, as the number of bat declines there is a raise in the mosquito population.
Other dates for Batstock 2016 will be a second Bat walk on Sunday 18-September at the Teaneck Creek Conservancy in Teaneck, NJ starting at 7:00p. The third day will be on Sunday 2-August at Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ. This will be a matinee performance of local bands with the doors opening at 3:00p
Money raised from Batstock will go to help fund research in finding a cure for WNS. The other goal of Batstock is to educate, and inform the public of the value of bat to the local  eco-system, and hoe many ideas of bat are not based on facts.
