Youth Parade

  On Thursday-4-July the Village of Ridgefield Park held their Baby and Youth Parade. This annual event is open to Children under the age of 12. They enter into a number of different categories to show off skills in decoration, Patriotism, and Community pride. The entries could be walking, riding bikes, or creating a float. This is also open to Children from other communities in their own divisions.  This parade started with the singing of "God Bless America" by Natasha Gonzalez, with the National Anthem being played by the Little Ferry VFW post # 809 band. The the Honor Student Court was introduced. At this time Gauri Bhandari was introduced as the Queen, Eric Ocampo as the Prime Minister. Both are 8th Grade Student at Ridgefield Park Junior High School. To start the Parade Ridgefield Park Mayor George Fosdick welcomed everyone participation or watching the festivities.  Mayor Fosdick added that this year marks the 125th consecutive year the Village has held their Fourth of July celebration. with one final word the Mayor started the marchers on their walk around Euclid Ave. 
   The then cavalcade of Red, White & Blue proceed south down Euclid to Mt. Vernon St. Then they did a u-turn and marched back to the Poplar St starting point on the other side of the medium strip. A short time after every has crossed the finish line, the trophies were awarded.  Commissioner John Anlian awarded the top Trophy of the Most Patriotic to the float titled " The Wallace Family Annual  BBQ" Next Queen Bhandari would award the Most Attractive, and Most Original to the Float(s) of the " The Only Place to be Express". Queen Bhandari would also present the bicycling duo of " In It To Win It" the trophy for most Humorous. Then Minister Ocampo present the trophy for the best entry commemorating 125 years of Ridgefield Park Fourth of July Celebrations to the float called " It Takes a Village to Raise Children" The Youngest Child from Ridgefield Park who took part was announced to a family who had a baby born in May of this year. Then the trophies for best in each Division were presented.
