On Thursday-6-February the Bogota Mens Basketball Bucs hosted the Saddle River Day School Rebels. This was played on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym. Bogota would score the first five points of the game, while shutting out the Rebels for the first four minutes. Once Saddle River Day recorded their first basket they would methodically take over the game. Late in the opening quarter the Rebels would take the lead, which they would not give up. Saddle River Day's defence would clogged the key forcing Bogota to take longer attempts. When the Bucs would get a look at the basket many shots would bounce the wrong way for them. Some those that would do a roll around the rim and fall away from the net. With Rebels players positioned close to the basket, they would grab most rebounds and start their offense. By the end of the first quarter Saddle River Day would hold a 11-9 lead. They expanded on this in the next quarter and would lead 27-23 at half time. For the second half of the game the Bucs could not persuade the ball to fall their way, which allowed the Rebels to control the rest of the game and come away with a 54-35 win.
Saddle River Day's Connor Cyran finished with a game high with 18 Points. Bogota would be led by Taj Collins and Bryan DelaCruz with 10 Points each. Mr. Collins and the Rebels Ryan Cassels each had game highs with 2 Three Point Baskets. Bogota's record is now 13-4.
The Bucs next play on Tuesday-11-February at Waldwick. The tipoff time is scheduled for 7:00p. NOTE: Both the Lady Bucs and the Men's team will play METS Charter School on Friday-14-February. This is a rescheduled game from Tuesday -4-February. The Lady Bucs game will start at 4:30. The Men's game will follow.
