Bogota High School Senior Brandon Montalvo has been nominated as a finalist for the North Jersey. com “ I Am Sport “ award for 2020. This is sponsored by Englewood Health, is to celebrate high school student athletes who volunteer their time to benefit those in their community. Votes can be cast once in every 24 hour period. The winner will be at the 2020 North Jersey Sports Awards to be held on Tuesday-16-June.
Mr. Montalvo has been an Assist Coach for the Bogota Football Bucs, and the Bogota Varsity Wrestling team. He also plays for the Bogota Baseball Bucs in the Spring. Mr. Montalvo has also been a member of the Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band, and the Concert band. He also can be seen on stage as part of the Bogota Drama Club.
As part of his duties Coach Brando takes part in planning and training for the Football and Wrestling teams. He also be seen on the sidelines offering guidance and support to his teams, and schoolmates while still being a fulltime Student at Bogota. In a statement from Football Head Coach Brain Appleton he said” While serving as an assistant coach he puts in the same amount of time and effort as all of us. From game plans, late coaches meetings and being a positive role model for his peers. He is respected and know as “Coach” throughout the town and school. He has put the time in and has never asked for a thanks from his job, that is why I believe he would be a great recipient of the I AM SPORT Award.”
