Bogota Borough Council

    On Thursday-17-December the Bogota Borough Council held their second meeting for the month of December. This would also be their last meeting for the year 2020. To start the meeting there were a few announcements during the Citizens remarks. One was to say the between the group Bogota NJ Families, and the Bogota High School over 40 Senior resident were able to have their sidewalk shoveled by Student Volunteers. Another announcement came from Mr. Robert Foster, Head of the Bogota Office of  Emergency Management. Mr. Foster said that due to a positive covid -19 result from inside Bogota Borough Hall, that building will be closed to all personal for three days. This will begin on Friday-18-December, with deep cleaning to be performed through-out the weekend. The cleaning will be performed by members of the Bogota Department of Public Works. When the building is declared safe all staff must follow the current safety protocols.
  Then the Council moved to agenda items, all of the amendments past. Mostly by an unanimous  vote. One item was passed by a 4-1 vote with one abstention. Along with one that was past by a 5-1 vote.  Some of the more noteworthy items that past were: The Borough can accept reimbursement of fund from the CARES act. This will mainly cover the cost of Personal Protective Equipment purchase during the current heath situation. 
  The adopting of the ordinance which raises the number of Police Officers that may be hired by the Borough. 
  The approval of Mr. Ryan Smith as an active member of the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept’s Engine Company #1.
  During the Council Reports segment Bogota Mayor Mr. Chris Kelemen, and the other members of Council took the time to thank, out-going Councilman Mr. Thomas Napolitano for his years of service on the Council. Along with his contributions to the Borough of Bogota. Councilwomen Ms. Mary Ellen Murphy, and Councilwoman-Elect Ms. Jo-Ellen Granquist were also congratulated on their election wins in November.    
  Also approved was the schedule for Council meeting in the year 2021, and the Official Holiday Schedule  for Borough Employees.  The next Council meeting will be the annual Sine-Die and Re-Organization meeting on Thursday-7-January-2021.  This will be a virtual meeting scheduled to start at 7:30p.  The swearing of Councilwomen Ms. Mary Ellen Murphy, and Councilwoman-Elect  Ms. Jo-Ellen Granquist will take place remotely.  This will be available to be viewed on zoom by logging in at:

 It was also decided that all Bogota Council meeting will be scheduled to start at 7:30p. This eliminates the Summer meeting time from the past few years.
    The next Borough of Bogota Council meeting will be on Thursday-7-January-2021. This will be the annual Sine-Die and Re-Organization meeting. The start time will be  at 7:30p. 
The first regular meeting will be on Thursday-17-January-2021 and scheduled to start at 7:30p. Log-in information will be posted at a later date.
