Tree Lighting

 On Sunday-7-December the Village of Ridgefield Park held their annual tree lighting ceremony.  This took place in front of the Municipal Building on Main St. A smaller then usual members of the public arrive to watch, from a safe distance. The event started with Mrs. Claus welcoming those who chose to attend. She also wished everyone in the Village, and beyond, a healthy, happy and safe Holiday season.  She also took the time to thank everyone who continued to preformed their duties in light of the ongoing situation. Next to speak was Ridgefield Park Mayor John Anlian, issuing his first Holiday greeting as Mayor. The Mayor wished all citizen a joyous start of the holiday seasons.  Then two poems were read with the second one being  " A Visit From St. Nicholas" as this came to its climax members of the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Department came driving down Main St. With lights flashing, and horns blaring they delivered a special  guest.  As the firetruck moved closer, it stopped to allow Santa Claus to step off the vehicle where he was greeted by Mrs. Claus. The couple then waved to all the Children as they climbed the step of the Municipal Building. When they reach the top, Santa was welcome by Mayor Anlian, and then turn to the audience to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Next Santa led the countdown and when the numbers passed one, the front of the building was lit up for all to see.
  After  a few moments to enjoy the colours Santa then award prizes to four lucky Children.  At the end of the ceremony Santa apologized for not being able to let the Children sit on his lap this year. He made up for it by still posing for photos with anyone who asked for one. He then went on his way back to the North Pole for finish the work preparing for Christmas Eve.
