On Friday-12-September, the Bogota Football Bucs played their Home opener, and first football game on the refurbished Feigel Field in the Bogota Sports Complex. They hosted the Wallington Panthers. Starting with a new tradition of walking through the Welcome Plaza, behind the stands and running onto the field from the Southern gate and crossing in front of the spectators, with the same bagpipe music use as their entrance tune for over a decade.
The game started with Wallington electing to receive the kick-off. The Bucs tried for an on-side kick to start the game, but with the ball rolling out of bounds this allow the Panthers to start their offense at midfield.
The visitors would drive to within five yards of scoring but were stopped by Jayden Gonzalez intercepting the short pass attempt. The Bucs moved away from the shadow of the goal posts but could not score. The first 12 minutes ended with no points for either team.
On their first series of the second quarter Bogota would move into Panther territory aided by a long throw and catch from Mr. Gonzalez to Derek Cabana. Later, one scoring play was called back due to an offensive penalty. Soon after that Jayden Gonzalez would find Dylan Leonardo at the front of the end zone for a 24-yard touchdown pass. With the Justin Roca Extra Point Bogota had a 7-0 lead which is how the first half ended.
The Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band played the first live music with their “Evolution of Hip Hop” 2025 program. They were followed by the Bogota Cheerleaders. The Wallington band and their Cheerleaders were also part of the halftime show.
After the restart Bogota took the opening Kick-off down the field, capped off by a 53-yard pass to Jason Alvarado from Jayden Gonzalez. The Bucs lined up in a spread formation for the extra point which allow Jaidin Gonzalez, at Centre pitch the ball to Matt Heras for the Two Point Conversion and a 15-0 advantage.
The fourth quarter saw Bogota put the game away with a 4-yard run for the third major score of the game with another Justin Roca Extra Point. Wallington had a drive which again move close to the Bogota Endzone. But, for the second time the drive was stopped by the second Jayden Gonzalez interception. Soon afterwards Jason Alvarado took the handoff and move to his right. Then he crossed across the field and found a clear path at the left sideline and ran for a 93-yard Touchdown. This time Adrien Ventura kicked the Extra Point which made the final score of 29-0, and a home opening win for the Bucs.
Bogota’s Jayden Gonzalez finished the game with 304 total yards with 3 Touchdowns with a career high of 246 passing yards. Jason Alvarado ran for a career high of 118 yards. Jaidin Gonzalez led the team with 11 Tackles with 6 Solo Tackles.
Bogota’s record is now 3-0. They next play on Saturday-20-September when they travel to St. Mary with a 1:00p kick-off.
