Arts Award Dinner

  On the Tuesday 11- June the Fine Arts Dpt. of Bogota High School held their annual Pot- luck dinner to celebrate the accomplishments from the past year..
   This was a time to talk about the  progress that was made by the students in their chosen field of interest. Stories were told of trophies won, and buses lost. Students were given certificates to honor their participation for the year.
   Leslie Baker handed out some trophies to the members Color Guard. Along with a trophy to Emily Inserra  for her success in a number of competitions.
  Wendy Hughes talked about the performances the Choir did this year, and that a new group has been added to the Choir in the All Female Barbershop singers the " La-Di-Da's"
  Barry McCann  acknowledge his departing  four Seniors for their time, and hard in the band over their High School carers.  This allowed him to talk about the upcoming school year for the Marching Buccaneers. Mr. McCann is projecting a growth in the schools band to over 100 Musicians. As he put it  "that is about  1/5 of the schools enrollment"  With that number of students to lead he appointed  two Drum Majors for next year. Current Drum  Major  Heather Mirabal will be joined by Omar Rojas to lead the band on to the field , and in  competitions.
  Sabina Albirt, and Wendy Hughes took turns in talking about the schools stage performances. Both the Dramatic production  of Cinderella in  the Fall, and the Spring Musical of  "Guys & Dolls" set some of the highest box office attendance in recent years.  Ms. Albirt then announced that next years Fall production would be  "Robin Hood"   Ms. Albirt also wanted to thank  Kyle McDermott  for being her first Actor that she has worked will for his entire acting career at  Bogota High School.
  Ms. Hughes & Ms. Albirt then presented the six newest members of the Bogota Chapter of the International Thespian Society.  The ITS not only is to the student as an Actor, but also to recognize the Academic performance as well.
  Even if this was and end of year celebration there are still performance available to enjoy. The Drama Dept. is presenting a Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre on Friday 14- June in the High School Cafeteria starting at 6:30p  . Tickets are $10.00 and can be reserved by emailing Ms. Albirt at
  The Concert Band , and Choir will also perform at the 2013 Graduation ceremonies.
