In Volleyball the #1 Bogota Lady Bucs regained the Group 1 State Championship with a 2-0 ( 25-23: 25-12) win over #3 Leonia at William Paterson University.  The Lady Lions were on the verge of winning the first game with a 21-23 lead. Bogota then came back with 4 straight points win the opening game. The Lady Bucs then built off the that win to start a 6-0 run to begin the next game.  Samantha Gioiosa had a match high with 18 Kills, and Amanda Manzo lead with 22 Assists. The Lady Bucs will now take part in the 2015 Tournament of Champions to be played on Saturday 21-November. They will be seeded #5 and will play #4 River Dell in the opening round. ( times to be announced later)  The Finals will be played on Sunday 22-November also at William Patterson University.
This is the fifth State Group 1 Championship for Bogota in the last six season. Of the five Juniors from the 2014 season only Amanda Manzo remained for her Senior year. Juniors Samantha Gioiosa, Julia Goni, Alexa Quirk, and Kaliana Vasquez helped maintain the spirit of winning that is Lady Bucs Volleyball. These five Veterans were supported a by a large group of Sophomore players that have been developed in the Bogota system stepped up to take their place on the varsity team. Lisbeth, Suarez, Anna Granquist, Madison Heck, Alexa Siri, Celia Gerhardt, Jaelyn Grullon, and Rina Garay along with Freshman Briana Lozano took on the mission to add to the Bogota Volleyball Tradition.
The 2015 season had been called, by some, a rebuilding year for Bogota. These Lady Bucs turned it into a Coming- out Party.  At the start of the year there will still be  2-0 match victories, but the second game seemed to be taken for granted and a closer score line then expected.  Early season losses to much larger schools could have shaken their confidence, until a victory in the William Patterson Tournament proved to them what Coach Brad DiRupo has always said, When they play to win, and play to be a Champion  they will succeed. By the end of the year an all Sophomore backcourt was common, and 5 of the 6 players at the net were underclassmen. They developed a wide range attack with Kills coming from numerous players from all areas of the court.  One Server after another would step up to the line to end opponents rallies, or finish off victories.  A winning season for Lady Bucs Volleyball is more than  playing over .500. It is One Team, being One Family and playing like a Champion each time the ball is severed.
