Weekend Events

9-November-2017

 Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the weekend  starting on Thursday-9-November.  Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Continuing
 Starting on Thursday-16 March the  Lt William Ryan Bridge will be closed for replacement.   Construction is schedule to take 10 Months to complete. 


                                                                       


Sunday-1-October

October to December

    Sunday-1- October will be the start of Leaf Season. Home Owners are allowed to place raked, leaves and grass cutting  in the street , along the curb, in front of their residents.  It is ask that the piles be placed in such a way as not to interfere with traffic, and away from storm sewers and drain to prevent flooding , or other water build-up. Leaf Season is schedule to end on Monday -18- December after that date all yard waste must be placed in brown leaf bags for pick-up.

   The Trinity Lutheran Church will be holding its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. They will be  collecting Frozen Turkeys & other Non-Perishable food item to be distributed to those families in need this Holiday season.  On Saturday-18-November they will be collecting frozen turkeys, and other perishable items. Drop off time for frozen turkeys is from 9:00a to 1:30p  at the Trinity Church located at 167 Palisade Ave Bogota, NJ. They are currently accepting any type of non-perishable food item after Sunday Service , or during normal weekday business hours. They are working in conjunction with the St .Peter Church in River Edge, NJ. All collected items will be distributed by the Food Bank of New Jersey. For more information please call 201-487-3576.

 Wednesday & Thursday-8&9- November

The Bogota  Public Library will have  story time reading  starting at 10:30a.  This is open available to any Student wishing to join in.  This will be held  under the tree in the Nikki Spiegel Story Time Corner.    The Public Schools of the Bogota Board of Education will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Regular class schedule will resume on Monday-13-November

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area.    The Bogota VFW Ralph Hall Post # 5561 will host its  Annual Veterans Day ceremony.  This is a chance for the citizens of Bogota to show their thanks and appreciation for what the members of the Armed Services both past & present mean to the Country. Doors open at 6:30 pm, ceremony starts at 8pm. It includes announcement of Bogota's citizen of the year and its young volunteer award. Please come by for the ceremony and refreshments. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.   The Bogota Public Library will be closed in honour of Veterans Day. It will reopen on its regular schedule on Monday-20-November
  

Sunday-12-November
Bogota
   Bogota Beautiful having a Fall clean-up event. This will be to prepare  the W.Main St planters for the upcoming Winter. Volunteers will clean, and remove debris, old growth and weeds from the planters. They will also be adding mulch  to protect the plants from Winter frost and cold.  This will start at 1:00p and start near the corner of W.Main St & Larch Ave. Any High school who volunteers will recieve community service credit.  For more information or to sign up please go to:

   The Bogota Public Library have Reading Buddies  available for February.  This is a program where older Students assist younger ones with their homework and reading skills. On this day several Sixth Grade Student were on hand to offer guidance on how best to answers question about their school assignments.
   The Reading Buddies program will take place between 3:30-4:30p when the Library is open. Buddies will meet in the Nikki Spiegel Children's Area. Students looking for may come in and ask for a Buddy to work with. Any older Student who wishes to volunteer their time to become a Reading Buddy should contact the Library at:

 The Library will have its Teen Advisory Group.  This is  an event open to grades 6-12. Group members will  participate in various activities and interact with peers. Bring your ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm to the table.   The next book in the" Food for Thought" to be discussed will be " Fates and Traitors" by Jennifer Chiaverini starting at 7:00p in on the second floor. Copies are now available at the Library.

The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman  This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

Bogota Sports


Saturday-11-November
Volleyball                #2 seed  Bogota Lady Bucs and will play #1 Veronia in the Finals of the 2017 NJSIAA  Women's Group 1  Volleyball Tournament. This will take place at William Paterson University located in Wayne, NJ. First serve is scheduled for 10:30a 


Saturday-11- November 
Cross Country        State Sectional Finals at Holmdel, NJ
Junior Football      The  #2 Junior Division Football Bucs will play against  .  This is a first round Game of the  BCJSFL Playoff. It will be played at Cliffside Park with a kickoff schedule for 12:00n
