April Events

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the month of April starting on Monday-1-April. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Thursday & Friday until 13-April

 The library is again working with AARP this year to provided assistance in tax preparation. This will be available on Thursday and Fridays from now until Saturday 15- April.  This is targeted to anyone over the age of 60 who could also be collecting Social Security .

Continuing 
  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

 The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material.      The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

Teaneck, NJ


The Rotary Club of Teaneck host their seven annual Taste of Teaneck. This  will be a showcase of the areas restaurants, bakeries, and other culinary businesses.  This will be  held at the Marriott at Glenpointe with the doors opening at 5:00p until 9:30p. Tickets for this event are $50.00 in advance and $60.00 at the door. There are also tables available for $650.00 which will be for 10 guest. These are only available in advance.  Admission price includes an opportunity to sample the fare from  over 20 local restaurants. There will also be live entertainment from by local musicians. Proceeds from this event will go to local charities and other international humanitarian projects.

The Bogota High School Class of 2019 will present their Spring Fashion Show.  This will be a showcase of designs created by the Students of Bogota High School. Their will also be a raffle or prizes donated to support the class of 2019. Tickets are $20 per person which will include 20 Level One  raffle tickets and light refreshments. Ticket may only be purchased in advance.
   This will take place in the Bogota High School Cafeteria with the doors scheduled to open at 6:30p.

There will be a free rabies clinic at the W. Broad St. Fire House. This will run from 10:00a to 12:00 noon. This is open any resident with a pet that need to have their pets vaccinated.

 The Healthy Kids Running Series will hold their next series of sessions for the Spring. This will be the first of the five day  events in the Healthy  Kids Running Series  for the Spring of 2019 in Bogota. Healthy Kids Running Series a nonprofit organization that gets boys and girls Pre-K through Middle School active, feel accomplished and lays the foundation for a healthy lifestyle, compete in their first race of the five-consecutive-week Series. This will take place at Fiegel Field starting at 4:30p. It will run for 5 straight weeks ending on Sunday 5-May.  Price for one session is $10.00 For the entire series is $35.00 Runners can chose to race in as many as they would like.

 Members from the Bogota,  Leonia, Cliffside Park,& Montvale Police Dept will host a Social Night to support the Police Unity Riders.  The events starts at 6:00p  and will go until 10:00p This will take place at the 101 Pub located at 101 Queen Anne Rd. Bogota, NJ. Tickets are $25 per person and will be available at the door. This is a fundraising event of the police Unity Tour later this year. Hackensack, NJ

   The next session of the Bogota Earth Day  fence weaving project will be held at the Bergen Technical High School Maker's Space located at 190 Hackensack Ave Hackensack, NJ . This will start at 6:00p and run until 8:00p. The main focus of this workshop will be on the designing  and creating the   3-d printed "embellishments" to be added to the fence weaving. This is open to the public even if they did not attend the 25-February event.

The Schools of the Bogota Board of Education will have a half day session to start their Spring  break. Schools will be closed until Monday-22-April and begin at their normal time.

  The Bogota Recreation Commission will hold it's annual Easter Egg hunt. It will be held next to the Olsen Environmental Walkway. The Easter Bunny will be on hand to pass out bags that the children will use for the egg hunt. The first hunt will be for those children in preschool or younger, this will start at 9:00a. The Kindergarten to Second grade will start at 9:20a . With the Grades 3&4 starting at 9:40a.
  Please be at the walkway 10 minutes before the time of the child's age group is set to start.
  The rain date will be Sat. 20-April also at Olsen Park.

    The Bogota Public Library will host a workshop for young athletes in Bogota  This will be the first of four Saturday's to encourage Students to learn more about how learning any sport can be beneficial in everyday life. It will be in two separate age groups.  One group for anyone ages from 2-7 will run from  11:00a. to noon.  All Students who participate must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian through out the event. The next meeting will be held in the second floor of the Bogota Library. At this meeting members are to bring a recipe from this month book, and serve it to the other members as a potluck dinner. While over dinner members can discuss the book, why the chose their dish, and what was it like in the cooking process.   This is a free event and open to anyone over the age of 18 years old.  Anyone wishing to participate must register before hand, with the cookbook of the month available at the Library. The Bogota High School Lady Bucs Volleyball Parents is sponsoring a Spring  Carnival during Spring Break . This will start on Tuesday-16-April and run until Saturday- 20-April. Rides will be open from 6:00p to 10:00p everyday except Saturday.  Then will be open from 2:00p to 10:00p . Unlimited ride wrist band are available for advanced purchase priced at $23.00/ day until Monday-15-April. Wristband will  then be $30.00/ day at the gate.  The Carnival will be held in the Lady Buc Softball Field in Olsen Park Bogota, NJ. The Ridgefield Park Elks Lodge # 1506 will be holding a All you can eat Breakfast. This will start at 8:30a and go until 12:00 noon Prices are $10 for Adults and $5 for student 12 and under. The Breakfast will feature an Omelette station, Pancakes, Bacon,Sausage, French toast, & scrambled eggs. There will also be pastries, cereal along with Coffee, Tea, Milk & Juice. It is asked to bring some Non-perishable food items for the Local Food Pantry.
The Elks lodge is located at the Corner of Spruce & Cedar Sts. Ridgefield Park, NJ

The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material.   The Bogota Public Library will offer an AARP  Defensive Driving Course. This is designed for drivers over the age of 50 and will explain update driving rules and teach defensive driving techniques.     The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office.  The Healthy Kids Running Series will hold their next series of sessions for the Spring. This will be the first of the five day  events in the Healthy  Kids Running Series  for the Spring of 2019 in Bogota. Healthy Kids Running Series a nonprofit organization that gets boys and girls Pre-K through Middle School active, feel accomplished and lays the foundation for a healthy lifestyle, compete in their first race of the five-consecutive-week Series. This will take place at Fiegel Field starting at 4:30p. It will run for 5 straight weeks ending on Sunday 5-May.  Price for one session is $10.00 For the entire series is $35.00 Runners can chose to race in as many as they would like.
