Weekend Events

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the week starting on Sunday-10-March.  Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Thursday & Friday until 13-April
Bogota

 The library is again working with AARP this year to provided assistance in tax preparation. This will be available on Thursday and Fridays from now until Saturday 15- April.  This is targeted to anyone over the age of 60 who could also be collecting Social Security .

Continuing 
  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The Bogota  Public Library will have  story time reading  starting at 10:30a. . This is open available to any Student wishing to join in.  This will be held  under the tree in the Nikki Spiegel Story Time Corner. The Bixby School PTO will hold their second Tricky Tray raffle night. This will  take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ridgefield Park. Doors will open at 6:00p  Proceeds from this event will go to help fund the Bixby PTO. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.  Admission includes refreshments and desserts. Anyone attending may bring their own food.  A cash bar will be available. A sheet of tickets for the small basket prizes are also included.  Some of the donations made by the Bixby PTO have gone to upgrading the Bixby Media Center.

Friday- Sunday-15-17-March
Teaneck, NJ
 Black Box Performing Arts Center will present a new work " How to transcend a Happy Marriage"  by Sarah Ruhl. Performances will run to Sunday -17-March. Curtain times are Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 8:00p, Sunday: 2:00p
Tickets are prices at $30.00 for Adults and$25.00 for Students & Seniors
Tickets can also be purchased at the venue.

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area. The Ridgefield Park Elks Lodge # 1506 will be holding a St. Patrick's Day Dinner and Dance honouring John Raftey as Citizen of the Year for 2019 This will start at 7:30p tickets are priced at $35.00 per person and reservation ate required.  Price includes a buffet meal and dessert.   START II  hold an indoor garage sale at the Bogota Recreation Center. located at 162 W. Main St. Bogota, NJ.  On Sunday 6-Dec. and will run from 10:00a to 4:00p. There will gifts for both pets and their Human friends. All proceeds from this event will go to find homes for the Cats & Dog would need one. Including Spaying (or Neutering)  as well as shots of the animals looking to be adopted.

The Ridgefield Park Elks Lodge # 1506 will be holding a All you can eat Breakfast. This will start at 8:30a and go until 12:00 noon Prices are $10 for Adults and $5 for student 12 and under. The Breakfast will feature an Omelette station, Pancakes, Bacon,Sausage, French toast, & scrambled eggs. There will also be pastries, cereal along with Coffee, Tea, Milk & Juice. It is asked to bring some Non-perishable food items for the Local Food Pantry.

Monday-18-February 
Bogota
 The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material. Bogota
The next meeting will be held in the second floor of the Bogota Library. At this meeting members are to bring a recipe from this month book, and serve it to the other members as a potluck dinner. While over dinner members can discuss the book, why the chose their dish, and what was it like in the cooking process.   This is a free event and open to anyone over the age of 18 years old.  Anyone wishing to participate must register before hand, with the cookbook of the month available at the Library. The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.
