Summer Pottery

 21-June-2021
On Saturday- 19-June the Flourish Community Art Studio held the first session of their Summer Pottery Class.  They have two session per Saturday one at 9:00a with the other staring at 10:15a. The early class was held outdoor, under a cover to help limit the sunshine on the clay. The later class takes place inside the studio itself. All classes take place at Flourish Community Art Studio located at 254 Elm Ave in Bogota, NJ. This is behind the Bogart Memorial Church. The Students were instructed by Ms. Alexandria, who offered tips and answered questions the Student might have. The beginning project was to created a ceramic bird with one wing standing proud of the main body.
After forming the basic shape Ms. Alexandria, with the help Bogart Pastor Ms. Jodie Liu, show how to personal the sculpture by adding texture to the clay. This a variety of ways, some as simple as a hand or finger impression in the material.  Other ways used different tools included cookie cutters, rubber molds and a number of other sculpting tools.
When the artist was happy with what they have created Pastor Liu  bring it into the Studio building to be fired in the kiln. With time still remaining in the class, more clay was available  for the Student to make what every came to their minds.
The next class with start with adding colour to the art work.
