Bogota Board of Education

 29-July-2021
  On Thursday-29-July the Bogota Board of Education held a special meeting. This took place in the High School Cafeteria, with an in-person audience.  Due to technical difficulties the meeting could not be lived stream. 
 There were only two orders of business. The first was to approve the new contract for district Superintendent Damian Kennedy.  This is a five year contract and will run until 30-June-2026. This was passed by unanimous vote. Then the trustees would go into executive session.
   When the meeting was reconvened the board member then approved the hiring of Mr. Christopher Albiez to become the next principal of the Lillian M Steen School.This was passed by unanimous vote.  
   Mr. Albiez replaces former Principal Dr. Dayle Collins. Dr. Collins served as Principal of Steen School for five years. Under her leadership Steen school become a National Blue Ribbon School in 2020. Dr Collins will also be the last Steen Principal to graduate a Sixth Grade class, with the opening of the New Bogota Middle School in September 2021.
   Mr. Albiez formerly was first the Vice Principal, then the principal of the Sara M. Gilmore Academy of Union City, NJ,  over four years. The Gilmore Academy is a Elementary School for grades 1 to 8.  In 2020, under Principal Albiez, the Gilmore Academy was selected as a National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators Schools Category 1 School. The Gilmore Academy had exhibited exceptional student performance and academic growth for two or more consecutive years.
  The next Board of Education meeting will be on Tuesday-31-August and is scheduled to start at 7:00p. Location and access will be announced at a later date.
