Bergen County has established 4 regional cooling centers. The following will be open which will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from September 5th through September 7th:
-Garfield Senior Activity Center 480 Midland Avenue, Garfield (973) 478-0502
-Northwest Bergen Senior Activity Center 46-50 Center Street, Midland Park, NJ (201) 445-5690
-Southwest Bergen Senior Activity Center 147 Hackensack Street, East Rutherford, NJ (201) 935-8920
Residents should consider visiting municipal cooling centers before traveling to the County facility to help avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Residents requiring a ride to a County emergency cooling center may call 201-368-5955 x1 during between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Emergency requests may be arranged after hours by dialing 201-394-2882.

The Ridgefield Park Arts Association and the Friends of the Ridgefield Park Library will co-sponsor the 2023 Word on the Street. This is part of International Literacy Day. The event will be staged at the Grove St Public Space starting at 7:00p. It will be an Open Mic Night and will welcome everyone who wishes to share their story. This year theme is "Turning Points". Participants will each have five minutes to share the times in which their lives have changed. Storytellers, Writers, Comedians and Poets are welcome to talk about situations from their past. Topic can vary from seemingly minor choices like hair color or making a left turn instead of going straight. To majors decisions such as changing jobs, or a romance.
Anyone who just wants to experience of listening insights to the Human condition are also welcome to attend. Music will be provided by Mr. Joe Kenney throughout the evening.
