On Thursday 10 July work crews from PSE&G will be continuing excavating a section of River Rd. between Elm Ave & West Shore Ave. The work is schedule to begin at 7:00a and run through out the day. This is a continuation of the work started Wednesday at the same location. Traffic lanes will be reduced during the daytime, it is advised that alternate routes should be taken.
This work is being done as part of what PSE&G calls The Northeast Grid Reliability Project. This will upgrade the overhead transmission system and add underground transmission circuits in northeastern New Jersey. The new lines will run underground from the Bergen Power Station in Ridgefield to connect with the Athenia Power Station in Clifton, NJ. The route will run underground in Ridgefield Park along Bergen Turnpike to Teaneck Rd, then make a left at Mt Vernon St. to then make a right turn to go under Railroad Ave. It will continue under River Rd in Bogota to then make a left turn to be under W. Ft. Lee Rd to then cross the Hackensack River under the Sifford Site. Construction of the underground section began in the Summer of 2013 and total completion is scheduled to be in June of 2015
