Changes

13-August-2014

Some of the construction project around Bogota have had to undergo a few changes as the process has progressed.  The gas station at the corner of E.Main St that is being converted into a 7-11 is officially going to add service pumps to be supplied by  the Valero Gas Company. This move allows for the Borough to still have a second filling station with in it's limits. The importance of this move can be remember from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. When the Western section of Bogota was without power for days the pumps at Tom's Service Station were also without power. This left only, what was a Liberty Station, to supply fuel for those who needed it for their generators and other emergency devices. It is hope that the pumps at the new Valero will have a back-up source of power when needed.

Another issue was the possible closing of the Quick-Chek on River Rd. The Rite-Aid pharmacy that occupies the same building had applied to expand to the whole site in order to open a drive-through for it's business. This proposal was rejected by the planning board, so Rite-Aid stopped the drive through bid. At this time the Quick -Chek may not be leaving it's current site. The Bogota Quick-Chek is one of the higher grossing stores in the area serving the Borough as well as surround communities. However Quick-Chek is also looking to expand to offer gas service at it's stores so there is no guarantee they will stay for the long term. Anyone wishing to contact Quick-Chek and inform them of the importance of their Bogota location can use the following link to contact them. http://qchek.com/contact_us.asp.

In a special meeting of the Borough Council a settlement involving the Borough and the developer 297 Palisades Urban Renewal Co. LLC. This was approved without dissent, and allows for construction to move forward.
