NJIC Tournament

   On Monday-22-October Bogota High School hosted the Semifinals of the NJIC Women's Volleyball Tournament. The  first match had the #2 Cresskill Lady Cougars playing #3 the Wallington Lady Panthers. Wallington won the first set 25-18. The second set was a close fought game throughout.  Neither team could get a large advantage, and when they did the opponent comeback and take over the lead. Numerous ties and lead changes had both the players and fans pushing themselves to the limits.  The score was tied at 20, and again 21. Wallington  found themselves with a one point lead soon after.  Then the Lady Cougars would again tie the game, they worked three more points out of Speary gym to win 25 -23 and tie the match at 1 set apiece. In The third set, the game would prove to be even closer. No lead was safe and no rally could be afford to be lost.  The ties started at 18 apiece then continued until both teams would be at 25. This time Cresskill would  score the first two extra points to win the set 27-25, and the match 2-1.
      Cresskill's Courtney Madison had a match high of 17 Kills.  Wallington's  Natalie Wasilczyk had 8 Kills with 2 Aces. Angela Azar scored 28 Assists for the Lady Cougars. With Sara Sadowska having 13 for Wallington. Cresskill's Sarah Jung recorded 20 Digs and Lady Panthers' Natalie Wasilczyk had 20. 
    Cresskill's record is now 15-6
   The second match featured the #1 Wood-Ridge Lady Blue Devils against the #4 Lady Owls from Park Ridge. Wood-Ridge would start strong and open an eight point lead.  The Lady Owls would receive for strong serving and closed the gap. Wood-Ridge then took back control for a 25-17 first set win. The second game would start like the first with the Lady Blue Devils taking a big lead. This time Park Ridge again storm back and even held a small advantage. The lead would not last long as Wood-Ridge moved ahead for good on their way to a 25-19 win and a match victory of 2-0.
 Ciilez DaCoasta would have match highs of 9 Service points and 4 Aces for Wood-Ridge. Ashley Ziltz had 8 Service points with 3 Aces for Park Ridge.  Ms. Ziltz lead all scores with 14 Kills and 15 Digs. Ciilez DaCoasta, and Madylin Marino both had 6 Kills for the Lady Blue Devils. Lady Owls Shannon Burns recorded a match high of 5 Blocks.
   Wood-Ridge's record is now 21-3. They will face #2 Cresskill in the NJIC Women's Volleyball Tournament finals on Wednesday-24-October. This will be played at Harrison with the first serve schedule for 6:00p
