Weekend Events

17-October-2018

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the weekend starting on Thursday-17-October. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Continuing
 Starting on Monday-26- February the main parking lot and front entrance to Bogota High School will be closed. This is due to the reconstruction of the Parking lot. Work is scheduled to continue until First week of September-2018.   All access to the High School will be through the side door on the North side of the building.

  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

 The Bogota Board of Education will be accepting applications for preschool at the Board Office until Friday-16- November.  Placement of those Student accepted will be done on Monday-26- November. Families will be notified on Tuesday-27- November. Classes will start after the School District holiday break with the first day being Wednesday-2-January-2019.
   Lottery application may be pick-up starting on Monday-15-October and will continue until Friday-16-November. Application are available at the Board of Education offices located at 1 Henry Luthin Pl. Completed application must be return to the Board of Education before Friday-16-November.

October to December
    Monday-1- October will be the start of Leaf Season. Home Owners are allowed to place raked, leaves and grass cutting  in the street , along the curb, in front of their residents.  It is ask that the piles be placed in such a way as not to interfere with traffic, and away from storm sewers and drain to prevent flooding , or other water build-up. Leaf Season is schedule to end on Monday -17- December after that date all yard waste must be placed in brown leaf bags for pick-up. 



Thursday 18-October 
Bogota
        The next discussion  in the Bogota Public Library Author Talks series will  start at 7:00p. This will feature Jeff Ryan's   "A Mouse Divided: How Ub Iwerks Became Forgotten, and Walt Disney Became Uncle Walt"   This will tell the story starting, in 1928, about the creation of Mickey Mouse and how Walt Disney went on to form his own company.

Thursday 18-October 
Bogota
 The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular meeting and work session. This is schedule to start at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers located on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.  This meeting is open to the public.

Thursday- 18-October 
Teaneck, NJ

The next day of the Teaneck Farmers Market  for this season. Shoppers will be able purchase locally grown  and produced food items.  This annual event will be every Thursday from June to the end of October. The stand open at 12:00 noon and continue until 6:00p   The Teaneck Farmers Market is located in the municipal parking lot along Beverly Rd Teaneck, NJ. There is additional parking available near by.

Friday- 19-October 
Bogota
   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area. Friday- 19-October 
Ridgefield Park, NJ
  The Cultural and Arts District of Downtown Ridgefield Park will be hosting an open reception  at Art Mora beginning at 7:00p.  This is a chance to learn about the creation of an Arts district in The Village of Ridgefield Park. Saturday-20-October 
Bogota
 The Bogota Public Library will present  Reading to Abbey starting at 10:30a.  Abbey is a therapy dog who comes to public libraries in order to aid  help students who may have challenges in reading. Saturday-20-October 
Bogota
  The Bogota Public Library will host a workshop for young athletes in Bogota  This will be the first of four Saturday's to encourage Students to learn more about how learning any sport can be beneficial in everyday life. It will be in two separate age groups.  One group for anyone ages from 2-7 will run from  11:00a. to noon.  All Students who participate must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian throughout the event. This is a free event, but anyone attending is asked to register with the library in advance.

Ridgefield Park, NJ
  The Green Team of Ridgefield Park and Bogota will be holding a Styrofoam Recycling event.  This will take place at the Ridgefield Park Dept. of Public Works  building located at 24 Industrial Ave. Ridgefield Park, NJ. They will be accepting used styrofoam packaging that is  dry, clean and, and uncontaminated. Packing Peanuts will not be accepted.  This is open to residents and Businesses in Bogota and Ridgefield Park.  For more information please contact them at:  greenteam@ridgefieldpark.org

  The Ridgefield Park Elks Lodge # 1506 will be holding a All you can eat Breakfast. This will start at 8:30a and go until 12:00 noon Prices are $10 for Adults and $5 for student 12 and under. The Breakfast will feature an Omelette station, Pancakes, Bacon,Sausage, French toast, & scrambled eggs. There will also be pastries, cereal along with Coffee, Tea, Milk & Juice. It is asked to bring some Non-perishable food items for the Local Food Pantry.

Monday-22-October 
Bogota
  The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material.     The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Kelemen This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.
