Official Results

 21-November-2020

 On Friday-20-November the Bergen County Clerk's Office posted the Official results of the 2020 General Election.


For Bogota Borough Council:
For two, three year terms
-  Incumbent Councilwoman Mary Ellen Murphy       Democrat         2,064 votes
-  Jo-Ellen Granquist                                                          Democrat         2,039 votes 
 Incumbent  Councilman Thomas Napolitano           Republican       1,955 votes
 Robert Foster                                                                    Republican      1,812 votes
This is for two full terms of three years. The top two Candidates with the most votes will win the seats to the Bogota Borough Council. This will mark the first time the Bogota Borough would have a majority of Women  sitting on the Council.
 

For Bogota Board of Education:
For a three, three year terms
- John Ortega                                                    1,740  votes
- Jose Chavez                                                    1,715  votes
- Bisi Ruckett                                                    1,546  votes
- Sandra Ospina                                               1,116  votes
Incumbent Trustee  Maureen Miller           930 votes
Incumbent Trustee  Zabrina Kearns           847  votes
- Kristin Meberg                                                734 votes 
This is for three, three year terms.The top three Candidates with the most votes will win the seats to the Bogota Board of Education.  The Bogota Board of Education will have 4 new trustees out of the 9 seats on the Board. From the 2020 Board 2 trustees did not seek reelection, and the 2 incumbents were not re-elected.
For one, one year term 
- Frank Miranda                         2,028  votes
- Trina Rivera-Olivo                    1,289 votes
 
The winner will win that seat as a trustee until the term ends in the year 2021.

For Ridgefield Park Board of Education:
For a three, three year terms
-Belinda Rodriguez                          2,176  votes
Incumbent David Cathcart          2,308  votes
-Bernard Gomes                               1,977  votes
-Diane MacNeill                               1,795  votes
 -Incumbent Ronald Hidalgo        1,423 votes  
-Edmond DeSantis                          1,409 votes
 
This is for three, three year terms. The top three Candidates with the most votes will win the seats to the Ridgefield Park Board of Education.  Only one Incumbent Trustee  was re-elected 

For Teaneck Board of Education:
For a three, three year terms
Danielle Gee                                10,997  votes
Damen Cooper                             8,289  votes
Harold Clark                                  8,230 votes
Incumbent Clara Williams         6,939  votes
- Yusra Subhani                               4,299 votes
Katherine Houghton-Zata          3,4722 votes

This is for three, three year terms. The top three Candidates with the most votes will win the seats to the Teaneck Board of Education. The Teaneck Board of Education will have 3 new trustees out of the 9 seats on the Board. From the 2020 Board 2 trustees did not seek reelection, and the 1 incumbent were not re-elected.


For Bergen County
For Board of Freeholders: ( soon to know as Board of Bergen County Commissioners)
For two, three year terms
 Incumbent Joan Voss            Democrat        265,922  votes
-  Ramon Hache                          Democrat        254,944  votes
-  Simone Tigounis                     Republican     198,213 votes 
-  Ronald Kistner                        Republican     197,938  votes 

This is for three full term seats on the Board of Chosen Freeholder. (soon to know as Board of Bergen County Commissioners)
The top two Candidates with the most votes will win the seats 


The US House of Representative  for the New Jersey fifth district representing Bogota and parts of Teaneck.
 For one, two year term
Incumbent Josh Gottheimer   Democrat          225,175  votes
- Frank Pallotta                             Republican       193,333 votes
- Louis Vellucci                             Independent        5,128  votes  

The US House of Representative  for the New Jersey ninth district representing Ridgefield Park and parts of Teaneck.
 For one, two year term
Incumbent Bill Pascrell         Democrat          203,674  votes
Billy Prempeh                          Republican         98,629  votes
Chris Auriemma                      Independent        7,239  votes  

The US  Senate for the New Jersey 
For one, six year term
Incumbent Cory Booker       Democrat          2,533,176  votes
- Rikin Mehta                            Republican        1,811,587  votes 
-  Madelyn Hoffman                Independent        38,107   votes
- Veronica Fernandez              Independent         32,070  votes 
- Daniel Burke                           Independent          11,527  votes

-Electors for the President and Vice President of the United States 
For one, four year term
- Joseph Biden   (Pres)                     Democrat         2,600,172  votes 
- Kamala Harris (VP)                        Democrat

-Incumbent  Donald Trump (Pres)     Republican          1,877,040  votes      
-Incumbent  Michael Pence (VP)         Republican



State wide Questions: All questions are a Yes or NO vote
Question #1 :
   To allow the State of New Jersey to amend the State Constitution in order to legalize marijuana  to included personal use for person over 21 years of age.
This was pass with:   2,729,097  Yes votes
                                      1,339,083  No votes
The State of New Jersey  must still:  Pass either enabling legislation, which would formally direct law enforcement to stop arresting people for marijuana possession, or a decriminalization bill.

Question #2 :
   To allow the State of New Jersey to amend the State Constitution in order to give a property tax deduction to veterans who did not serve in war time.
This was pass with:      2,218,030   Yes votes
                                          1,620,437  No votes
This amendment makes honorably discharged veterans eligible for a $250 deduction on their property taxes regardless of when or where they served.

Question #3 :
   To allow the State of New Jersey to amend the State Constitution in order to change legislative district if the Federal Census results are delayed.
This was pass with:  3,053,945  Yes votes
                                         940,643 No votes
This amendment says that, if census data is given to New Jersey after Feb. 15 in any year, the legislative redistricting process should be delayed and old voting maps would be used for elections for 12 years instead of the typical 10. 

Teaneck Question: All questions are a Yes or NO vote
 Shall the Township of Teaneck, effective for the calendar year 2021, continue a dedicated tax program and extend an annual tax levy at the rate of $0.01 per $100.00 of assessed value for a period not to exceed four (4) years unless a proposition extending the same is approved by the voters 
This was pass with:  8,331  Yes votes
                                    4,547 No votes
