Spring Concert

 17-May-2025
On Thursday-15-May, the Bogota High School Fine Arts Department held their Spring Concert for 2025. The evening began with the Concert Band, under the Direction of Mr. David Abraham, performing “Brave Spirit” by Randall D. Standridge and a suite called “Courage, Wisdom, Power”, inspired by the “Legend of Zelda” series and featuring some of its songs, including “Song of Storms”, “Lost Woods”, “Zelda’s Lullaby”, “Gerudo Valley”, “Great Fairy Fountain”, and, of course, “Hyrule Field”, finishing with a medley for its Finale. Some of the Band members even wore hats that the series’ characters would wear. Before the Intermission, Mr. Abraham introduced the Band’s Senior members: Joelle Almonte, Adrian Bueno, Chris Pablo, Niko Grimaldi, Nathaniel De La Torre, Aydan Lowther, and Allen Garcia: presenting them all a yellow rose.
During the Intermission, the audience was invited to look at the Art Gallery from the students’ art classes, set up in the hallways on the first floor. After the Intermission, Mr. Abraham played a short film of the Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band from the Fall Marching season and announced that there would be a YouTube channel to watch it on at a later date.
The second act started with the Concert Choir, under the direction of Mr. Michael Prachthauser. They began by honoring the Spring Musical “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and singing its Entr’acte, followed by “Cantique de Jean Racine” by Gabriel Faure and-with the help of the Middle School Choir: “Die With a Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. Before their final song, Mr. Prachthauser recognized Seniors Isabella Guzman, Romoya Young, Ian Engelhardt, Rodrigo Leal, and Band Senior Ayden Lowther: also, with yellow roses. They sang “My God is a Rock” in A cappella for their final tune.
This was followed by the A cappella Purple Notes taking the stage and singing “Ubi Caritas,” “Set Me as a Seal,” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” with Soprano Lola Hernandez singing a solo. For the final piece, they sang “Seize the Day,” stomping and tapping their folders for a rhythm.
While the Jazz Band set up, a few students and Mr. Abraham played a transition song. Then after inviting Vice Principal Dr. Malcom Lash to join in on the drums, the Jazz Band crept onto the stage while performing the theme from “Peter Gunn.” When they were at their spots, they performed “Mambo no5”, “25 or 6 to 4”, the theme from “The Incredibles”, and “Zoot Suit Riot”, with Mr. Abraham joining them on the saxophone, trombone, and guitar.
Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band will lead the Bogota Memorial Day which will start on Palisades Ave. at 11:00a. They will also lead the 2025 Arc Walk in Olsen Park starting at 10:30a.
The Bogota Band Parents Organization are accepting new members. This open to all Parents of Band Choir and Drama Students.
