Weekend Events

19-April-2018

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the weekend starting on  Thursday-19-April. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

 Starting on Thursday-16 March the  Lt William Ryan Bridge will be closed for replacement.   Construction is schedule continue into April. A tentative opening date is Friday-20-April.

 Starting on Monday-26- February the main parking lot and front entrance to Bogota High School will be closed. This is due to the reconstruction of the Parking lot. Work is scheduled to continue until First week of September-2018.   All access to the High School will be through the side door on the North side of the building.

 Starting on Sunday-1-April the Bogota Library's will have its "Food for Fines"  month. This allows  the payment of any late fees to be paid with food donations. Donations will go to the St. Joseph'd Food Bank until Monday-30-April.

    The Bogota Police Dept. will engage in a Distracted Driving Enforcement and Education Campaign starting on Sunday 1-April. This is part  of a National and State wide effort to reduce the number of traffic accents caused by distracted driving. This is titled UDrive. UText. UPay and will continue in Bogota until Saturday-21-April.

   The Bogota Police Dept has issued a traffic alert starting on Thursday-16-November -2017. The Suez water company will be working on the main water line under the street.  Work is still needed to be done, and W.Main St has not be repaved. Please drive with caution.

 The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular meeting and work session this is schedule to start at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers located on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.  This meeting is open to the public.

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area.      The St. Joseph's School in Bogota Will hold their Spirit Sprint 5K Run / Walk. This will start, and finish at the Bogota Recreation Center located at 162 W. Main St Bogota, NJ.  There will be both a Women's And Men's race with 6 different divisions each.  The Divisions are 14 years and younger: 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 years and older. The top two finishers in each division will be awarded metals.  There will also be a non-competitive  walking event  as well. Entrance fee is $25.00 for racers registering before Friday-30-March.  Fee for those 14 and under will be $20.00.  The first 200 register will receive a t-shirt. Race Day registration fee will be $30.00. Proceeds will go to the Special Olympics and  St. Joseph's School. 
   Medals will be award after all the competitors have returned to the Recreation Center. All racers under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an Adult. Every race must sign a waiver before the race. Parent of anyone under 12 must also sign a wavier.

      Bogota Beautiful's fourth annual Earth Day Clean-up. Starting at 11:00a and will begin at the Picnic Shelter in Olsen park located at 162 W. Main St.  Bogota Beautiful is now accepting sign-ups for anyone wishing to be a Volunteer on this day. The number of Volunteers that sign up will help them plan on how many areas will be work on that day. They are also accepting donations of any equipment to  help with the clean up. Gloves, hats, racks, shoves, broom, or any other type of lawn equipment will be accepted. They are also looking for anyone who has their own power equipment to Volunteer their services on that day.  Anyone with tillers, leaf blowers,  power washers and cordless mowers would be welcome.  Bogota Beautiful is also interested in any business who would be able donate refreshment for the Volunteers. Water, snack, fruit, and Sandwiches are the primary need to get the Volunteers going on a late spring afternoon. High School and College Student will be awarded community service credit for volunteering for this event.    The Bogota VFW Post #5561 and the Bogota Mayor and Council will present at redecoration of the Lt William Ryan USMC memorial Bridge. This will be held at the parking lot next to the Olsen Park Environmental Walk , and is scheduled to start at 1:00p. It is excepted to have members of Lt. Ryan families in attendance.

  On Saturday-21-April the Bogota Public Library will begin a week long series of workshops focusing on promoting personal financial literacy. The first workshop  will be on how to acquire information over the internet.
