Winter Concert

 On Thursday-13-December the Bogota High School Music  Dept. present their Winter Concert for this year. As patrons entered the Auditorium they were treated to carols performed by the Flute Ensemble. The Concert Band, under the Direction of Mr. Barry McCann, lead off the evening and started with " On this Day the Earth Shall Ring"  The song began with Elsie Luque and Emalia Samouhos playing Trumpet solos from the Balcony allowing  the music flowing over the Audience.  The band continued with four other pieces,  one was "Rudolph in Wonderland" Flute featuring a solo by Syed Hamaza Hussanini.  They finished their set with "Bell Carol a la Big Band" with a trumpet solo by Mauricio Valerio.
   After the intermission the Concert Choir took the stage and sung five songs, under the Direction of Ms Maxine Alstrom. The first was  "Hine Ma Tov" with the accompaniment of Maryann Gesmundo on the Clarinet.  The finished with Holiday Blessing which combined several carols into one song. The Choir was followed by The Purple Notes, Bogota's Women A Capella group, singing 'Tidings of Comfort and Joy".
   The evening finished with the High School Jazz Band playing four selections. During "The Christmas Song" Trumpeter  Mauricio Valerio, and Trombonist Gabrielle Cintron each had solo pieces. For their rendition of the "Twelve Days of Christmas"  different Musicians had the opportunity for a solo moment on each of the Twelve days.  
   The next performance for the Bands and the Choir will be the Spring Concert schedule for Friday-10-May-2019.
