This Weeks Events

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the Weekend starting on Thursday-18-April. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Continuing 
  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The Healthy Kids Running Series will hold their next series of sessions for the Spring. This will be the first of the five day  events in the Healthy  Kids Running Series  for the Spring of 2019 in Bogota. Healthy Kids Running Series a nonprofit organization that gets boys and girls Pre-K through Middle School active, feel accomplished and lays the foundation for a healthy lifestyle, compete in their first race of the five-consecutive-week Series. This will take place at Fiegel Field starting at 4:30p. It will run for 5 straight weeks ending on Sunday 5-May.  Price for one session is $10.00 For the entire series is $35.00 Runners can chose to race in as many as they would like.

The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material. The Bogota Public Library will present their Adventurer Book Club.  This is for Students in First & Second Grade. This days book will be "If You Ever Want to Bring a Piano to the Beach, don't!" By Elise Parsley There will also be crafts and games based on this book.
 This is a free event, but anyone attending is asked to register with the Library in advance.

  The Bogota Public Library will offer an AARP  Defensive Driving Course. This is designed for drivers over the age of 50 and will explain update driving rules and teach defensive driving techniques.     The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

  The Bogart Memorial Church will hold its next session of the Flourish Community Art Studio. This will be housed  at 254 & 262 Elm Ave in Bogota, NJ. This initial classes held there are Pottery Classes for Students. These session starting on Tuesday-23-April-March and will run for seven weeks.  There were three separate classes for Students from Kindergarten to Grade Six.  Student for 6th to 12th grade starting on Thursday 25-April. Amd Adult Classes starting on Sunday 28-April
  The classes will be taught by Lewis Marx,

  The Bogota Rescue will hold its annual Boot drive. This will take place from 10:00a to 2:00p at E.Main St. and Palisades Ave. Members will be accepting donations to aid to their general fund.
