Bogota Basketball

 Results from Bogota Varsity Sports starting on Wednesday-10-January.

   The Lady Basketball Bucs hosted the Lady Warriors from Waldwick.  They would lose the game by a score of 58 to 36. Emma Fowler had a team high with 12 Points. Waldwick's Lyla Stokes had a game high with 23 Points. Hailey Zirpoli recorded 3 Three Point Baskets. Bogota's record is now 3-8. Their next game is Friday-12-January at Dwight Englewood.  with a 4:00p tip-off.

 The Men's Basketball Bucs traveled to Midland Park to play the Panthers. The game started with the home team taking a 5-0 lead. Bogota would pull within one point at 9-8.  This would be part of a 15-4 run that gave the Bucs a 20-13 at the end of the first quarter. 

Midland Park would use scoring runs of their own to create a 27-27 tie, then again at 31 all. Bogota was able to go into the locker room ahead 38-33. The second half again started with the Panthers outscoring the Visitors to build a 46-40 advantage.  It was Bogota's turn to play catch-up and tie the game at 48 a piece. At the three Quater time make the Bucs still led by the score of 56-51.  With the teams again at 62-62 Bogota made the score 64-62. Time moving to under 33 seconds Midland Park's Joe Gmerek connect on a Three Point Basket from the far-right side. The Bucs forced the play back into the Panthers zone. RJ Asencio would draw the foul and by making both throws gave Bogota a 66-65 lead.  Then Midland Park created an opening, with time running out, but the shot would not bounce their way and the Bucs left with a 65-65 win. 

   Michael Olivo would have game highs with 19 points and 4 Three Point Baskets. The Panthers were led by Joe Gmerek with 18 Points and 4 Three Point Baskets. His teammate Sean Fell also recorded 4 Three Point Baskets.  Jayden Baca finished with a career high of 10 Rebounds.

  Bogota's record is now 6-6 Their next game is on Saturday-13-January against Eastern Chrisitan starting at 1:00p. This will take place on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym
