On Tuesday-6-January,
the Bogota Board of Education held their first meeting for 2026. This first order of business was the swearing-in the candidates who won the position
of Trustees for the Board of Education in the 2025 General Election. They were for Incumbent Trustees Ms. Idalia Alvarez with 1,374 votes,
Ms. Trina Olivo with 1,326 votes and newly elected trustee Ms. Ambreen Naeem with 1,133
votes. They were all sworn in by District Business Administrator Mr. Irfan
Evcil.
The next order of business was to elect the
president of the Board Trustee Mr. Jose Chavez was
unanimously elected as the new Board President. Mr.
Chavez first duty was to ask for nominations for a Board Vice President. Trustee
Ms. Bisi Ruckett was unanimously elected as the new Board Vice President.
Then the Board voted on the Consent Agenda.
All resolutions were passed by unanimously vote. Item of note was the schedule
for the 2026 Board of Education meeting. For 2026 there will only one meeting each month. (except if needed, with advance notice.) They will be in either the third or fourth Tuesday of the Month. The March meeting will be held on Monday-16-March. All meeting will begin at 7:00p.
The next Board
of Education will be Tuesday-20-January starting at 7:00p
This will be held in the High School Cafeteria located on the
second floor of 2 Henry Luthin Pl. and online.
