An open letter to the residents of Bogota from outgoing Borough Clerk Ms. Yenlys Flores-Bolivard.
My final day in Bogota as Municipal Clerk marks the close of a ten-year chapter a role that has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
As Bogota's first Latina Municipal Clerk, I have had the privilege of strengthening our municipal operations, advancing civic engagement, and fostering community pride. I may not claim to be the best Municipal Clerk in Bergen County, but I am proud to have been the best for Bogota. Together, we have achieved milestones worth celebrating. Bogota claimed first place in the Bergen County Christmas Tree Competition. We launched the Borough's first educational election program at Bogota High School, inspiring students to embrace civic responsibility and encouraging them to participate by working during elections. We brought beauty to our streets through tulip plantings and promoted healthy choices with our October Drug-Free program. We led the way as one of the first municipalities to digitize borough records. And we came together for a referendum election that improved facilities for our children a moment I remain deeply proud to have been part of.
I leave knowing Bogota is stronger, more engaged, and ready for the future. My deepest gratitude goes to our residents, to former mayors and our current Mayor our first female Mayor Fede to all Council members past and present, to borough employees, to our administrators past and present, to our Bogota Police Department, Bogota Fire Department, Bogota Rescue Squad, Bogota OEM, Friends of the Bogota Library, our DPW, and all municipal staff. To the Bergen County Municipal Clerks Association, the Bergen County Clerk's Office, and our county partners you made this work possible.
The experience, lessons, and relationships built over this decade have shaped who I am both professionally and personally. They will guide me in whatever comes next.
Ten years ago, I walked through those doors with a dream. Today, I leave having lived that dream and so much more. Bogota didn't just give me a career it gave me a purpose, a community, and a family.
Bogota is more than a place I served. It is a community I am proud to call home. This chapter may be closing, but the legacy we built together of service, progress, and pride will endure. I step forward inspired, prepared, and profoundly grateful.
Thank you, Bogota, for ten unforgettable years. You will forever be home to my heart.
Thank you, Bogota.
