Cookies decoration

22-January-2026
On Tuesday-20-January, the Bogota Public Library hosted a special makers lab that focused on Muslim Heritage with the use of decorating Islamic themed cookies.
This was led by Ms. Jenna Makkaoui , who talked about a few important symbols of the Islamic faith with the use of homemade cookies. One was the  Crescent Moon  which marks the beginning of a Lunar Month that is the base of the Islamic calendar, which is a lunar calendar consisting of 12 lunar months in a year of 354 or 355 days.
Another cookie was shaped as a Mosque which is the place of worship for Muslims. It also serves as a community centre, a space of prayer, education, and other social activities.
Then Ms. Makkaoui passed out the cookies along with frosting and sprinkles for the Students to decorate.
On Saturday-7-February the Borough of Bogota will host their Ramadan event in the Senior Centre on the second fl. of 375 Larch Ave. starting at 3:30p
